New Design Curtains in the Berlin BUFA Studios "Atelier Garden"

In Berlin-Tempelhof, the world-famous BUFA Studios (Berliner Union Film Studios) in Oberlandstraße, founded in 1912, are currently being redesigned and GERRIETS is involved for its partner company MKT. In addition to the traditional theme of film studios, for which the BUFA Studios have stood since 1912, event spaces are currently being created for multifunctional use. In addition to these renovations, the outdoor area is also being completely redesigned, with a preference for surface unsealing. This new exterior design gives the overall project the name "Atelier Garden".

The largest renovations took place in Studio 1. And here Gerriets was able to plan, manufacture and install exciting curtain constructions with even more exciting track runs for its partner MKT Engeneering from Berlin. The design was created by the Dutch architectural firm MVRDV, which also has a branch in Berlin. MVRDV designed and realised a space with highly flexible, multifunctional curtains made of complex Gerriets track systems with intertwining courses with intricately crafted design curtains, all manufactured by Gerriets. This artistic curtain installation, together with a 200m LED system by MKTengennering, is the creative focal point of the entire installation.

In detail, Gerriets installed the following design and curtain systems:

  • TRUMPF 95 track system curved in amorphous form - total approx. 220 rm incl. 3 pieces "1 on 3 points" and 3 pieces "2 on 3 points".
  • 4 curtains with a width of up to 28.0 m.
  • 7 OFFICE sound curtains 3-layer in various widths.
