Moulin Rouge!
The Musical
Cologne / Germany

and Gerriets is at it again!

After the great success of the musical " Moulin Rouge" in London's West End, the love story based on the legendary Parisian nightclub at the end of the 19th century can now also be seen in Cologne at the Musical Dome at the main railway station. This has been transformed with a lot of complexity into a nightclub, a theatre and a dance hall at the same time and is showing the production "En suite" in Cologne since the 6th of November 2022.

The transformation of the Musical Dome took several months and, among other things, over 2,000 square metres of red velour were used for decorative curtains, soffits and the finest ceiling sails from Gerriets.

Gerriets Great Britain (GGB), the English division of Gerriets GmbH in Umkirch, which had already supplied the complete furnishings for the production in the West End of London, was commissioned by Studio Hamburg to make and supply the textiles and velour.

"We used a lot of material in the auditorium and on the stage.

I think apart from "Harry Potter" in Hamburg, where Gerriets was also one of our main suppliers, we have never done such an elaborate conversion for a musical in the auditorium. In fact, I don't know of any comparable project in Germany or Europe.

This is certainly also due to the fact that the Musical Dome in Cologne was an extremely functional and not so attractive theatre before the renovation.

Now it is certainly one of the most beautiful musical theatres and the many astonished faces I saw when we showed the house to our guests for the first time seem to prove that. And a lot of the materials used in the auditorium came from Gerriets Great Britain in London."
